Josh Nelson
Excutive Director
Josh Nelson has been Executive Director of Music City Mystique since 2006. Originally from Lynchburg, VA, Josh has a Music Ed. degree from East Tennessee State University. While at ETSU he was a member of McM for 4 years 2000-2003, he was the section leader of McM's top bassdrum sections from 01-03. Josh joined the McM staff in 2004 and 2005 seasons as Bass Tech.
Josh's extensive drum corps background has exposed him to many different styles and methods of both teaching and playing under Ralph Hardimon Thom Hannum and Colin McNutt. Josh was a member of the 1997 Crossmen, 1999 Bluecoats, and marched with the Blue Knights from 2000 until his ageout in 2002. While with the Blue Knights, Josh won the coveted DCI Bassdrum I & E award in 2000 and again in 2001. Making his drum corps staff debut in 2003, Josh worked as the bass tech for the Seattle Cascades and joined the Blue Knights drum staff, also as bass tech, in 2004-2005. From 2006-2012 Josh was the Band and Choir Director at Lawrence County HS in Lawrenceburg, TN.
Josh is a sought after drill designer for Marching Bands and Winter Drumlines around the country. Making a return to drum corps in 2013, Josh will be on staff at the Blue Knights from Denver, CO.
